Trailer Talk - Skyfall (2012)

For quite some time Skyfall was toiling around, stuck in pre-production, known only as 'Bond 23' because of MGM's financial issues.  Luckily for us the Bond franchise is too popular to get hung up in such problems.  It wasn't so much a matter of if James Bond would return, but when.  So after a longer than planned delay - which allowed him to do The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Daniel Craig returns in what looks to be his most action filled turn as 007 yet.

There are actually two trailers that have been released thus far, and I want to touch on both as they each illicit-ed different, but equally good reactions.  First there is the teaser trailer.  I first saw this when it aired during the opening ceremony for the London Olympics last week.  I am admittedly a fan of the long running Bond franchise, so there was little question that I'd be looking forward to this film.  After all, it did check in at number nine on my Most Anticipated Films of 2012 list earlier this year.  But even with that being said, I was totally hooked after then opening seconds.  James Bond finds himself in an interrogation room playing a little word association.  After a few amusing (if not slightly predictable) answers, the interrogator says "Skyfall".  To which Bond quite sternly replies "done" before standing up and walking out.  Those short seconds show the epitome of all of Craig's 007 bad ass-ness.

Second is the first full length trailer for Skyfall.  Wow! Not only does it give us a peak at some great action sequences, but M (Judi Dench) gives the order to take out Bond - or at least make it look as though he was taken out!  We get our first look the latest Bond villain played by Javier Bardem, and it appears that he's channeling a little bit of the creepiness he exuded in No Country for Old Men.  And Q (Ben Whishaw) for the first time in the Craig era!  That's right, we finally get Q!  Spy gadget extraordinaire!  They are joined by Ralph Fiennes, and Naomie Harris.

Review - Mama

Mama (2013), PG-13, 100 minutes - Jessica Chastain is ruling the box office right now, starring in the two top grossing movies in theaters this past week.  One is Zero Dark Thirty (for which she earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress), and the other is this little horror film based right here in Virginia (it had a $15 million budget and made over $32 million over its first week). Mama begins in tragedy just after the beginning of the financial collapse in 2008, a man named Jeffrey (Nikolaj Costar-Waldau) murders a co-worker and his estranged wife before taking his two daughters (three year old Victoria and one year old Lilly) and fleeing town.  Driving too fast on snow covered roads, he loses control and they slide off the side of a mountain road and crash in the woods.  The three of them survive the wreck and come across an abandoned cabin after fleeing the scene.  Once he's started a fire, Jeffrey breaks down in another room.  After regaining some composure, he comes
