Trailer Talk - Lincoln (2012)

Lincoln (2012) – Daniel Day Lewis?  Steven Spielberg?  Historically based period piece?  I was sold on this film before ever seeing the trailer.  After seeing the trailer (and the rest of the unbelievable cast that this film boasts), I am adding it to my short list of absolute must see theatrical views (along with Skyfall and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey).  Day Lewis is joined by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Jackie Earle Haley, Jared Harris, Sally Field, John Hawkes, David Strathairn, and many others (more recognizable by face than by name).  I am very much looking forward to seeing Daniel Day Lewis’ take on one of our most popular presidents during a pivotal time in our country’s history.  Lincoln hits theaters on November 16th, which will be here before we know it!

Rental Review - Ghost in the Shell (1995)

Ghost in the Shell (1995), NR, 83 minutes - I was first exposed to Ghost in the Shell by a couple of college friends.  At the time (sometime around 2000-2001), this feature length anime was already highly regarded and, at least among those in my social circle, was almost always at the top of the list when it came to recommended anime.  Because they spoke of it with such reverence, I had incorrectly assumed that it was older than it actually was.  Now, seventeen seventeen years later (about twenty two since it was first released), and a good ten years since I last watched it, I figured I better give it another viewing before going to see the new live action adaptation that was released a few weeks back. Collected Comic Review - I Kill Giants: Titan Edition

I Kill Giants: Titan Edition - Collecting I Kill Giants (2008) #1-7. I Kill Giants by writer Joe Kelly and artist JM Ken Niimura is a series from Image Comics that I have heard great things about for a while now, but had never had the chance to read.  Mostly due to my preference for nice, oversize hardcover editions and the fact that this Titan Edition is out of print and not the easiest to track down at a decent price.  About a week ago, the stars aligned and I was able to add a copy of this book to my collection and read it in time for the release of its live-action film adaptation (which hits theaters in a limited release this weekend).
