Quick Update

I realized this morning, as the calendar turned to May, that it has been over a month since my last posted review.  Some of you may already know that I have picked up a part-time job.  This has cut into my free time substantially.  I haven't been to a theater in a few weeks, which is abnormal for me.  Granted, not all of that time was due to the part-time, some was due to there not being much out that I was interested in.  In any event, with what free time I have had, I haven't had the energy to work on any reviews.  The last film I saw was Allegiant (the third installment of the Divergent series), and as you can see, I have yet to get a review written for it.

I just wanted to let those who check in regularly know that I do plan on continuing to post in this space, it just won't be nearly as frequent as it has been in the past.  Right now I'm trying to determine when I might be able to find time to check out Captain America: Civil War next week as that's the next film that I'm really looking forward to.

When I do get future reviews posted, links will be shared on Facebook, Google +, and Twitter as they usually are.  As always, thanks for checking out my little corner of the web!

Rental Review - Ghost in the Shell (1995)

Ghost in the Shell (1995), NR, 83 minutes - I was first exposed to Ghost in the Shell by a couple of college friends.  At the time (sometime around 2000-2001), this feature length anime was already highly regarded and, at least among those in my social circle, was almost always at the top of the list when it came to recommended anime.  Because they spoke of it with such reverence, I had incorrectly assumed that it was older than it actually was.  Now, seventeen seventeen years later (about twenty two since it was first released), and a good ten years since I last watched it, I figured I better give it another viewing before going to see the new live action adaptation that was released a few weeks back. Review - The Snowman

The Snowman (2017), R, 1h 59min - After I finished reading IT a few weeks back, I set my sights on this novel by Jo Nesbø, with hopes of finishing it before the movie hit theaters.  I ended up finishing the source material this past Sunday, which kept me from catching it on opening weekend.  But honestly I ended up being even more intrigued by the film after seeing that it was receiving less than stellar reviews along with its sub-par performance at the box office.  Thanks to an odd day off from work, I was able to see Tomas Alfredson's big screen adaptation yesterday afternoon, and while I feel as though the casting of characters was pretty good, the film itself is a bit disjointed and anti-climactic.
