Jessica Jones (2015), Season 2, TV-MA, 13 Episodes - The second season of Jessica Jones has been out on Netflix for about a week and a half now as it was released a day earlier than usual to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8.  I wasn't sure what to expect from season 2 as her comic book history is relatively limited when compared to her Defenders teammates (she first appeared in 2001) and her primary villain (Kilgrave) had already been dealt with in the first season .  What I got was a well paced, deeper exploration into Jessica's past that also provided significant character development for a number of characters (one of which hit very close to home for me personally, which I will discuss more in the spoiler section). The Defenders, TV-MA, 8 Episodes - About four years ago, Marvel announced their plans to produce four series based upon street level heroes that would culminate in a crossover mini-series teaming the four heroes.  All of this would take place in the greater MCU, and all five would be distributed by Netflix.  This past Friday gave us the completion of that first phase of what has become the highly successful Marvel/Netflix partnership with the release of The Defenders. Jessica Jones (2015), TV-MA, 13 Episodes - November 20th saw the release of Jessica Jones, the second collaboration from Marvel and Netflix.  Similarly to the Daredevil series released back in April, this Netflix Original is set in a section of New York known as Hell's Kitchen, is comprised of thirteen episodes, and is connected to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As the title states, the series follows Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), a woman who developed powers after a childhood accident: super strength and the ability to fly, or as she calls it 'jumping real high...and then falling'.  She's attempted the super hero gig in the past but it didn't work out the way she had imagined so she started her own P.I firm, Alias Investigations.  She's a bit of a loner and keeps the few friends and loved ones she has at arms length because of the danger she feels that she attracts danger.  Of course, events from her past have caused her to feel that way an...

Big Eyes (2014), PG-13, 105 minutes - Big Eyes is the latest directorial project from Tim Burton and is based on the events of artist Margaret Keane's life. Events which are both phenomenal and unbelievable at the same time. I can't say as I was familiar with her story before now, but it really is quite remarkable. Margaret (Amy Adams) met fellow artist and future husband Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) while painting portraits in the park for money in an attempt to support herself and her daughter. Keane was a charming man who had lived over seas and seemed to know everyone. They got along well, and when Margaret's ex-husband attempted to get custody of her daughter claiming that she could not provide a stable environment, they got married.
