Those who follow my social media accounts are likely already aware, but this past Wednesday night I was a guest on the Omnidog's Vault YouTube channel's LIVE Crime Corner show! We discussed the modern classic Daredevil runs of Brian Michael Bendis/Alex Maleev and Ed Brubaker/Michael Lark.  It was a ton of fun and fortunately my WiFi waited until just about the very end before acting up and dropping my connection (apologies for the technical difficulties) These are two of my favorite runs produced by a handful of my favorite creators and it was great to chat with Jess and Taylor about them.  You can watch the discussion here or by visiting Omnidog's Vault on YouTube (which you should do, because there's a ton of great content there). I'm waaaaaaaaay overdue for a blog update!  Life hasn't been very cooperative over the last few months as far as allowing time for writing reviews, but I have been keeping both my Daredevil Collected Edition Reference and Jason Aaron Thor Collected Edition Reading Order updated, so I've got that going for me...which is nice. Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky TPB Vol. 2: No Devils, Only God - Collecting Daredevil (2019) #6-10 . No Devils, Only God presents writer Chip Zdarsky's second arc on the Daredevil title, one in which he continues to explore Matt's recovery from serious injury and the repercussions of Daredevil's being wanted for murder (see the events in Zdarsky's first arc first arc Know Fear ).    As a result of the accidental death at his hands, Matt is experiencing a crisis of faith in regards to his abilities and actions as Daredevil.  He had previously believed that he had a duty to use his abilities to help protect others, but now questions whether or not he was actually doing good or inadvertently increasing the level of danger of the incidents he intervened in.  Matt decides to give up being Daredevil, but that doesn't stop a number of other concerned citizens of Hell's Kitchen from using him as inspiration putting themselves in danger in an effort to fill his role as...

Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky TPB Vol. 1: Know Fear  - Collecting Daredevil (2019) #1-5. With his run on Daredevil, Chip Zdarsky has said that he wanted to lean into the dark and gritty tendencies of the character as opposed to a more lighthearted tone, which he has come to be known for from his work on titles such as Sex Criminals (which he drew), Howard the Duck, and Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man.  He has certainly achieved that goal in Know Fear, his first arc on everyone's favorite Hell's Kitchen resident. This arc kicks off the latest volume of Daredevil (the sixth overall), and is a great place to jump on the book if you haven't paid attention to the character in recent years.  It picks up after the events of both Charles Soule's run that preceded it and the Man Without Fear: The Death of Daredevil mini-series by Jed MacKay (obviously Daredevil is not actually dead, but the mini does act as a nice bridge between the Soule and Zdarsky runs).  Zdarsk...

If you've followed this blog space at all over the last year and a half or so, you know that I've been a huge supporter of Charles Soule's recently completed Daredevil run.  The eighth and final trade paperback was released this past week, so now that it has been collected in its entirety I thought I'd try and do something fun in an effort to spread the love. Daredevil: Back in Black Vol. 7 - Mayor Murdock - Collecting Daredevil (1964) #601-605. Since Marvel has not yet seen fit to give Charles Soule's excellent, recently completed Daredevil run the oversize hardcover/omnibus treatment yet, I feel compelled to continue my series of reviews for the trade paperback collections (the previous entries can be found  here , here and here ).  Volume 7 just came out a couple weeks back and includes one of my favorite arcs from Soule's run: Mayor Murdock. I won't get into too many story specifics as the title of this volume itself is a bit of a spoiler for events from the end of Volume 6.  With Mayor Fisk incapacitated and The Hand descending upon New York, a little known order of succession change made by Fisk's predecessor puts the Mayor-ship of New York in the hands of Matt Murdock!  Can the Man Without Fear save his beloved city from one (or is that two?) of his fiercest enemies?  And can he do so without revealing...

Daredevil (2015), Season 3, TV-MA, 13 Episodes - I have been impatiently awaiting the third season of Daredevil since it was first announced at San Diego Comic Con two years ago.  Once the actual release date was announced a few weeks back to be October 19, my anticipation and excitement was at an all-time high.  Aside from that date being a very important one in our household (it is my wife's and my anniversary, this year being our fifth), it was also earlier in the year than I had originally expected after it had previously been announced to release by the end of the year.  Even when new series showrunner Eric Oleson attempted to temper expectations by saying this season would not be a direct adaptation of the classic 'Born Again' story by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli (a personal favorite) - which was widely expected - my excitement didn't diminish.  Fortunately, despite my over-eagerness, Season 3 not only lived up to my personal lofty expectations, but ...

Daredevil: Back in Black Vol. 6 - Mayor Fisk - Collecting Daredevil (1964) #595-600. I'm a big proponent of talking up material that you enjoy and not wasting energy on bad mouthing the stuff you don't.  With that in mind, here are a few quick thoughts I have on this book, the most recent collected volume of Charles Soule's criminally under rated ongoing run on Daredevil.  Those who follow this blog know that I have been pushing this run for months, so please bear with me and don't tune me out! Daredevil by Mark Waid & Chris Samnee Omnibus Vol. 2 - Collecting Daredevil (2011) #28-36, Daredevil (2014) #0.1-18, and Indestructible Hulk (2013) #9-10. Those who know me or follow this blog are probably wondering "Why on Earth did it take Tim this long to get a review for this book written?  It's been out for almost a month already!"  Well, there was a bit of a delay in my receiving my copy as the first one arrived with a production defect (the top front edge of the dust jacket was torn/bent under the shrink wrap).  Fortunately, the customer service department at In Stock Trades is wonderful and I was able to get a replacement.  Unfortunately, I had to wait for my damaged copy to be returned before the replacement shipped.  About two weeks after my original order was placed, I finally had my copy in hand and then of course I needed time to re-read it!
